Kindness

Before the virus came

We strived towards a moving aim

There was money before shame

Of our own inner pain

Our dreams always pushed aside

Like we had something to hide

Now they bubble to the surface

Like a forgotten, forbidden place

Our own Atlantis to see

That helps us to feel free

Love still so hard to face

Like it was never commonplace

Yet it’s what is what binds us together

Or we will leave this world without a trace

What we have come here to be

Is inside of us you see

It just needs a little stillness to contain

And get through our own pain

Not seeking our own gain

Or acting always inhumane

Small acts of kindness break out

Like the sun through clouds of doubt

A gentle word to a stranger

Or helping the souls cross over

To a higher plane

So that we don’t go insane

From our own greed

Born from an insatiable need

To control and have

Living our lives cut in halve

A split person kind and cruel

Which one is our true fuel

The choice is ours today

We can find a better way

What is gonna be mainstay?

Will we have the courage

To keep selfishness at bay?
